Week 33; June 23, 2014: Interesting Week

So this week was pretty interesting.

We started going on splits with the priests this last Thursday. This is the first time I’ve gone on splits with the youth and of course, it happens when I’ve only been in the area for a week. So we get a list of people in the ward list that nobody has been able to contact so we just spent the time trying to figure out if anyone lived in these homes anymore. So in order to get from place to place, we relied on the youth’s phone to tell us where to go. And every house we stop by, we get doors slammed in our face and one house, we found out the person moved out. How we found that out was by talking to these two little girls that were outside the house and explained that she moved out of the home. We talked for a little bit and asked if the parents were home and so one of the girls runs in the house and then walks out saying, “She says she doesn’t want to talk right now.” And we were going, “Okay, that’s fine.” And then the two kept going on about how their parents told them to cuss at any missionaries that they saw, but they didn’t want to be mean so they refused to do it. Yeeeeeah, nice. Teaching your kids to cuss at someone… that’s nice. Anyway, so I was feeling really bad for the youth because he’s been going through all these rejections and all that and it was his first time going on splits. But at the end of the splits, he said, “Thank you, Elder Foxx, I had an awesome time, now I’m really pumped up to go on a mission!” ……….okay then, cool. So right as splits was about to end, we get a phone call from a recent-convert who’s about to go on a mission that he needed a blessing. And this youth just got the Melchizedek Priesthood the Sunday previous. So we brought him along and he got to do the anointing the oil and used that Priesthood for the very first time. So that was a pretty cool experience!

That’s probably the most exciting thing that’s happened beyond this morning. This morning for P-Day, we woke up at 4:30 AM to go fishing. As far as I know, I think this is my first time fishing, so that was pretty cool. I got three blu-gills, one catfish, and one trout.

Anyway, that’s about it. Hope you all have a great week!

Love,
Elder Foxx

Oh, and last Monday while we were at Walmart I saw these limited edition Halloween Recess’s ice cream bars… in the beginning of June. Hmm…
