Week 77; April 27, 2015: Continuing the Work

So this week was good. Leslie is continuing to do good. We taught him on Wednesday and taught the Word of Wisdom and Law of Chastity, which are usually the lessons missionaries get afraid if in case they run into a concern, but the lesson went really well. Completely understand everything, had no issues with either commandments, said he would live them. He did delay his Baptism by a week from May 16th to May 23rd though… he wanted to invite his family, but his mom will be out of town on the 16th so he wanted to see if it could get pushed. We told him it was fine, but explained that if we do push it that this should be THE day it happens and not get delayed again because this is the second or third time it’s gotten pushed back. It’s just generally not good to wait that long just because the adversary really pushed on them close to their Baptism and it usually hits them pretty hard. So hopefully things will stay well. Things are going great thus far.

Tuesday we had Expanded Zone Conference (which is like a regular zone conference, except it’s both the missionaries and the ward members and ward leaders). There wasn’t really anything particularly new they talked about, but it was rather more of a reminder of what we already have, such as Elder Andersen’s Apostolic Promise given in the April 2013 General Conference. “I promise you, as you pray to know with whom to speak, names and faces will come into your mind; words to speak will be given in the very moment you need them; opportunities will open to you; faith will overcome doubt; and the Lord will bless you with your very own miracles.” To take that apostolic promise to heart and remember to constantly be praying for missionary opportunities and that when we do so, the promise is that we will be prompted to whom the Lord would have us speak to. It’s something that our mission has been sharing on little cards since the mission’s inception, but it’s always a good reminder. Even as missionaries, we sometimes forget about that promise and how effective it is to share with everyone.

Anyway, that’s kind of the biggest news I have to share this week. I hope that all of you are doing great and that you have a great week!

Love, Elder Foxx
